Aston Martin Gauntlet build upon the basic design done by Ugur Sahin Design to update Aston’s lineup with a study design. The intent was “to design a car which is technically almost identical to the existing production Aston Martins while defining a design character that outmost respects the impressive history of the brand and combine the timeless lines of the past Aston Martins with the modern interpretation of the existing styling.”

2009 Aston Martin V8 Vantage Roadster Previews
2009 Aston Martin V8 Vantage Roadster Previews With Specification And Prices With Reviews and Images
While the universally distinctive and award-winning shape of the Aston Martin V8 Vantage is retained, the car benefits from a number of technical changes which include significantly up-rated engine performance from a new 4.7 litre power unit in both Coupe and Roadster variants. Other changes include revised dynamics to take full advantage of increased power and torque availability.

The Vantage roadster is powered by a 4.3-liter V-8 that produces 380 hp. That's a comparatively modest figure, but you forget about that when you push it past the 4000-rpm mark and hear the sharp exhaust bark that is reminiscent of a Lamborghini Gallardo's. A six-speed manual and a SportShift automated manual transmission are available; both are exceedingly capable, but we prefer the SportShift with its column-mounted paddles.

Improvements in performance have been achieved through a number of carefully developed changes to Aston Martin’s acclaimed V8 engine. The cylinder bore and stroke has been increased from 89mm to 91mm and 86mm to 91mm respectively, giving a total displacement of 4735cc. The increase in cylinder bore is facilitated by a move to cylinder liners that are pressed into the pre-machined aluminium alloy

In a comparison test between the 2008 Aston Martin DBS and 2008 Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano in the July 2008 issue of Automobile Magazine, we gave the nod to the car from Maranello but the purity and gruffness of the English car left a lasting impression. But, at $266,350, the top spec Aston is a true exotic. The entry-level car, the V8 Vantage, is gorgeous and sounds fantastic but we've always felt let down by the lack of power provided by the Jaguar-derived 4.3-liter V-8. With the buzz from the DBS experience still fresh in our heads, we hopped on a plane to Germany for a drive in the tweaked for 2009 Aston Martin V8 Vantage.
